My cousin got in touch with me about 2 weeks ago and asked me to create some illustrations of his children, he saw the 2 images I did of me and my Mum at my Mum's house and was really impressed. So he emailed me and asked if i'd make him some. So here they are...(he offered to pay me but out of the goodness of my heart I said no! :) )

Its been a while.

I've been home for summer and not had much overtime so i've been messing around on Illustrator. The first portrait I did in this style was of my Mum (the image on the left) for her 50th Birthday, it was originally a photo booth photo when I think she was around my age.
Simple portraits done on Illustrator. Not the hardest to create but I think they look pretty :)

P&O Ferries

Not the most interesting of briefs. We were asked to design a campaign for the new Ferries of P&O for the Dover to Calais journey.
This campaign was 3 story boards and I made 3 posters from the story boards. It was based around "The Story of the Ship" and I looked at reviews by customers who had used P&O in the past, then used the quotations to form a story. This brief was made typography and illustration based.
I hated every minute.

UMBRO IFT

This brief was live, and we got to meet two people from Umbro and present our work to them as clients.
I worked with Sarah, in the brief we were asked to advertise the new Kit to 11-18 year olds and it had to be off-pitch. We took the brief completely off-pitch and wanted to focus on how football to these kids is everything. They live, breathe and sleep football.

"Our memory is never fully 'ours'."

Stupid essay question.

1 hand in is over and more pile up.
Just finished a brief for Global markets, basically having to invent something which hasn't yet been invented yet before we could make an advertisement campaign for it. This worried me for about 3 weeks then I finally understood what was being asked of me and got on with it. I chose something which interested ME, and that was music. So I came up with the idea of an app for your phone which was for HMV, you take a photo of any HMV advert which you see and you are taken to a page of gig listings for the artist shown on the advert. Instant access to live music, basically. "Music at your fingertip."

So it happened.

2 years ago I applied for the Advertising course at Salford University. I ended up leaving the interview upset and confused, the 3 years I spent at Nelson and Colne College was a complete waste of time...although I did have the best time. My work wasn't up to scratch, it wasn't good quality and it most definitely wasn't Advertising or even Graphic Design.
This year I had another chance of an interview for Advertising after the 2 years of HND Graphics, which although the 2nd year was absolute shit, I somehow managed to get onto the Advertising course with ease. Petra and Tim were kicking arse tutors and bloody well kicked me into Graphic Design. 2nd year's half arsed job of a tutor, Justin, was a bit too hazy in his own dream world of showing off his own work and talking and talking and talking...about himself.
So here we go, 2 years of advertising...

This brief was for Computing, and usually things don't work out well for me in this lesson. This one was to design your own website and create it in Flash.
I decided to make my own illustrations of things which I take interest in. Like photography, clothes, make up and personal things like my glasses, and my interest in retro objects like the telephone which I used.
I kept the theme very simplistic and paid particular interest in line drawings.
